TV recycling is free for LED, touch-screen, and flat-screen monitors. A $20 charge is involved for plasma TV recycling and LCD/LED monitors. CRT TVs are $40 each to recycle with us.

Most local councils in New Zealand will not allow you to dispose of your television in your curbside rubbish bin. It is recommended you include it in your inorganic collection, donate it to a community op shop, or recycle it via an e-waste recycler such as Computer Recycling Ltd.

Throwing TVs and other electronic was such as computers in the rubbish overflows landfills and may cause environmental and health damage to humans.

Components and materials used to create TVs and other electronics are toxic when leaked into the soil, atmosphere and water system via improper disposal. Utilising Computer Recycling’s E-Waste recycling services ensures Kiwis can diverty their e-waste from ending up in landfill.

Yes we do – they are $40 to recycle.

After being processed at our site, they are sent to a specialty metal recycler who is equipped to handle the hazardous materials contained within CRT TVs. This metal supplier safely processes to extract the metals.

We do not re-sell CRT TVs back to the consumer.

Computer Recycling Ltd uses a technical approach, dividing out as much equipment as possible for reuse. These items are tested and refurbished, before being marketed by our subsidiary company - Tech Barn.

For equipment that can’t be reused, these items are prepared, dismantled and packaged for recycling.

Recycling of e-waste also has two main streams:

• What can't be done in New Zealand

As technology, equipment and the volume of e-waste for recycling increases and improves, we are able to process more and more e-waste recycling here in NZ.

At this stage though, NZ just doesn’t have the volumes to make the full dismantling and metal recovery of most e-waste material viable – meaning we utilise services off-shore.
