It’s free of charge to drop-off and recycle your cables at Computer Recycling. We accept all cables, extension leads, charger cords and power boards.

Yes! Our team at Computer Recycling processes your unwanted power cords and cables extracting precious metals – such as copper – to ensure it is recycled and repurposed.

These precious metals are categorised and distributed to specialised metal processing facilities throughout NZ and overseas. 

General household cable can contain up to 50% copper. Copper is recyclable and can be processed over and over again with no loss of quality.

Recycling your cables ensures this precious metal is repurposed and reused, instead of ending up in landfill.

Local councils in New Zealand will not allow you to dispose of your cords, cables or extension leads in your curbside rubbish or recycling bins.

It is recommended you include it in your inorganic collection or recycle it via an e-waste recycler such as Computer Recycling Ltd.

When cords, cables or extension leads end up landfill there is the risk that harmful substances leach into the surrounding environment, or that precious metals such as copper do not have the opportunity to be repurposed.
