Yes! Our team at Computer Recycling processes your unwanted modems and routers, extracting precious metals – such as copper – to ensure it is recycled and repurposed.

These precious metals are categories and distributed to specialised metal processing facilities throughout NZ and overseas. 

Electronic items such as modems and routers contain small amounts of precious metals such as copper.

Responsibly recycling your modems and routers ensures this precious metal is repurposed, instead of ending up in landfill.

Local councils in New Zealand will not allow you to dispose of your modems or routers in your curbside rubbish or recycling bins.

It is recommended you include it in your inorganic collection or recycle it via an e-waste recycler such as Computer Recycling Ltd.

When modems, routers or other e-waste items end up landfill there is the risk that harmful substances leach into the surrounding environment.

By recycling your unused or unwanted items, you can ensure the precious metals are being extracted and re-purposed, and that any hazardous substances are being processed safely. 

Computer Recycling Ltd uses a technical approach, dividing out as much equipment as possible for reuse. These items are tested and refurbished, before being marketed by our subsidiary company - Tech Barn.

For equipment that can’t be reused, these items are prepared, dismantled and packaged for recycling.

As technology, equipment and the volume of e-waste for recycling increases and improves, we are able to process more and more e-waste recycling here in NZ.

At this stage though, NZ just doesn’t have the volumes to make the full dismantling and metal recovery of most e-waste material viable – meaning we utilise services off-shore.
